Noble Sacrifice

Came across this in Lucerne, Switzerland. It is a memorial to Swiss soldiers. They fought and died for what they believed was right and people are rightly proud of them. It was very moving to see and we stood quietly and respectfully thinking about the noble sacrifice they made. Put me in mind of my tiny Chatsworth lion that sits on my mantelpiece and of the wonderful Narnia tales. Not one for wanting to hang pictures of Jesus around my house, I find the concept of the lion a powerful symbol for the noblest of all making the greatest sacrifice of all - that an innocent would willingly lay down their life for their friends.
